This training is only open to families who are in the process of becoming licensed with Firefly. If you are not currently in the process of becoming licensed with Firefly, but would like more information about becoming a foster parent, please visit foster.fireflyin.org.
Please note: This is a two-day training that takes place on both April 13 from 8 AM – 4 PM and April 14 from 8 AM – 3 PM.
RAPT III and Therapeutic Training offer an in-depth discussion of the following important topics: attachment, discipline, and the effects of caregiving on the family. In this two-day training, we’ll cover multiple aspects of trauma-informed, therapeutic parenting, including child sexual abuse; safety plans and treatment options; and behavior expectations for children who have sexually inappropriate behaviors.
It’s important that foster parents be able to promote resilience in children who have experienced trauma. We’ll explore how to establish strong bonds and relationships while helping children build coping skills. We’ll also have some recommendations on how resource parents can help children feel safe when talking about trauma.
All our discussions are rooted in understanding how children respond to trauma, how trauma can interfere with development and functioning, and how trauma can affect children’s view of themselves and their future.
This training will be facilitated via Microsoft Teams. Upon successful registration, you will receive an email with the link for the training.
