Lunch and Learn: How the ACE Study helps us to understand Trauma

February 21 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm EST

Virtual Event Virtual Event

Our childhoods shape us in so many ways, both positive and not so positive. By looking at the findings of the ACE (adverse childhood experiences) Study, it can help inform our understanding. We will explore protective factors as well, including positive childhood experiences and counter-ACES, in order to help our clients (and ourselves) to heal.

Terrence “Terry” Lovejoy has been working in the field of social services/mental health since 1988. He joined the Firefly Children & Family Alliance team, then known as Children’s Bureau, Inc., in 2001 and has been with us ever since. In 2007, he moved into the adoption team and loves it! Terry has been honored to help many children and families in their adoption journey over the years. In 2009, Terry joined the team who provided community trainings for professionals in trauma-informed care and attachment, starting with Take CHANCES for Kids, then Take TIME for Kids, and now with TACTICS (Treating All Clients with Trauma Informed Care Strategies), individualizing the format to meet the needs of the group. Terry has completed 72 hours of training for adoption competence (TAC), is a certified clinical trauma professional (CCTP), and holds other licenses and certifications. He provides management support for the adoption team.
